My photographs represent my exploration into questions of identity and the ties that draw people together. Communities fascinate me.
My professional photography career began as a newspaper shooter in Vail, Colorado. Today I mix commercial photography with journalism in Denver.
More facts: I studied at Carleton College and CU. One time, I interviewed Terry Gross. I served in the Peace Corps in Bangladesh. I have perfect pitch and a deep love of music. In high school, on my last night working graveyards at 7-11, a car drove through the front of the store. I grabbed a disposable camera off the shelf and started taking pictures, launching my career as a photographer.
My work has been honored by CENTER's Review Santa Fe, the Foto8 Summershow, BURN, and the Eddie Adams Workshop. In 2013 I received a grant from the Documentary Project Fund to continue my work in Colorado's rural North Fork Valley. This year I received a grant from the Puffin Foundation as well.
