Susie Kaldis
Susie Kaldis enjoys working with her hands. She creates one-of-a-kind, unique pieces of art that reflect the inner-workings of her mind, body, and soul.
In 2004, Susie received a Bachelors of Fine Art degree from The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. At Art Center, her focus was on self-identity and feminine issues relating to world history, politics, media, sex, and body image. The relationship between human beings and their surroundings stimulates her to craft mentally challenging art pieces. Mother Nature also inspires her. She draws inspiration from the multitude of autumnal colors, as well as the river, mountains, fruit orchards, and animals here in the Colorado region.
The mediums she uses are vast and wide. Figure and landscape painting have been part of her repertoire since her early teens. Digital art allows her to foster a fresh perspective on photography. She creates jewelry using materials such as gemstones, feathers, resin, metals, string, leather, bottle caps, & fabric. She uses 100% humane bird feathers, often given to her from friends’ farms. She also likes to make earthenware pottery – mugs, bowls, plates, and soap dishes - on the wheel. She recently participated in the 81428 Fashion Show 2011, in Paonia, Colorado, working with recycled clothing to create extraordinary fashion pieces.
In 2010, Susie established her handmade artisan gift line - Angel Eyes Collection. Since moving to Paonia in May of 2011, Susie has taken Angel Eyes Collection to several Rocky Mountain Festivals, including Mountain Fair in Carbondale and the Harvest Festival in Paonia. Angel Eyes Collection can also be found on the web at Etsy.com.
