HEIDI "CEDAR" KESHET
Heidi “Cedar” Keshet, Paonia, COBFA, Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, WI
Cedar was raised in El Paso, Texas/Sunland Park, New
Mexico. She spent many hours in the desert of southern New Mexico,
near her family home, on her horse, with a sketchbook in the saddle
bag. The light, colors in nature and huge expanse of sky was being
infused into her artistic psyche. Having an eye for detail also played a
huge influence on her works. She often brought home bones and pods
of plants for subjects of her work.
Cedar paints in watercolors and acrylics. She is inspired by the open landscapes of theWest. She also creates sculptures from organic materials. Her sculptural focus is on ephemeral works, especially site specific. She references vessels and containers in many of her works; actual and metaphorical. Keshet works with materials created by nature: Sticks, leaves, and other plant parts. She has exhibited in galleries and museums in Chicago, Denver, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Sedona, Dallas, Craig, Sedona and Milwaukee.
Keshet lives in western Colorado where she creates art, trains horses and dabbles in Biodynamic farming.
